    Hand pollination

Does anyone hand pollinate cucumbers? One of my cucumber plants so fat only has male flowers so what do I do? My TG is in the house with grow lights.

jenradtek, are you using the standard Grow Lights designed for ONLY herbs and greens?  Growing fruiting plants require additional red spectrum lights to help them mature to harvest.  All flowering plants grown indoors will require some sort of manual intervention (brush, shaking, fan, etc.) for pollination since there are no insects to help out.  Many cukes start off producing male flowers first and then female flowers later.  Can you provide a picture?

Hey Ron. Yes the standard grow lights. I had no idea I wasn't supposed to plant the fruiting plants if I was using the TG indoors ugh. After I hand pollinated I did get more female flowers. I'm hoping the cucumbers will actually grow. No tomatoes so far I do have pictures but it doesn't look like I can attach them here. Do you think I should just take out my tomato plants and put them in the ground? I haven't gotten any peppers or eggplants yet either. Idk how much time it usually takes. I wish I knew the grow lights were just for leafy veggies and herbs I do have an outdoor garden as well but I was hoping for tomatoes all year long in my TG

I cannot make the decision of pulling the tomatoes or any plant for you.  There have been some folks getting success with some fruiting plants with just the standard grow lights, I don't want you to think it is 100% unsuccessful.  Search for posts and you'll find some success stories with just Grow Lights and also Grow Lights and replacing 2 with red spectrum lights.

There is an insert image button to add pictures if you are working off your desktop/laptop.  Look at all the icons at the top when replying.
